what is happening right now [22 Mar 2005|12:18am]
News has been super-light lately.

The "Infected" project is nearing a close, with all of the tracks now in final mixdown stages.
The DPR retrospective has a tentative release date of April (late April, actually) 2005.
And it looks very possible as if No Magic might be linking the chains and reforming anew once more in the months to come.

Eyes glued to this page, gets you the latest!

A Message To The People of Asia and Africa [16 Jan 2005|11:45pm]
To those affected by the Tsunami:

The loss of life and property is staggering.  The world seems to be silent and dead, and all around the world shows help, and concern, but it never seems quite enough.  What little bit we as Americans can do to better the quality of life in the regions effected by the cataclysm of the tsunami never seems quite enough.  Every little penny counts, if you have spare change, please give it to the organizations that you can trust (a list appears below).  As a world we are all in this together.  Please hold out your hands, and rescue those who can't rescue themselves from this horrendous tragedy.

Thank You:

New News for 2005! [13 Jan 2005|12:05am]
From News Central:

This site will be updated and linked to a new site in the months to come.
Deflection Point Entertainment includes Deflection Point Records and the new Vulture AuctionSpace, a EBay commerce member selling such items as far ranging as XBoxes, to Textiles, and even some original artwork.  VultureStudio is another site which will make it's debut, consisting of photographs of major areas, including Las Vegas, NV and Cincinnati, OH.  This brings us to another topic we must bridge. That is as follows:

Infected CD:
My newest CD is actually going to be a double-set.  The last time this was done was in 2001, for No Magic's ill-fated Breathe/Harder 2CD set. This new set will be all new material, and will be from the viewpoint of a fake band that started in 1965, and ended up going through Physcadelia, Early 70's Acoustic Rock, Disco, 80's Hair Metal, 80's Techno and Reggae, Children's Folk Music, and Marilyn Manson-style dirges. The CD's have a tentative release date of July 2005.

The Attic - Finally Ready to Go!
It's taken an eternity to compile all of the tracks needed for this retrospective.  A lot of relevant out-takes and even a new No Magic track has been uncovered. This along with tracks from Blind Judgment, Eons Of Zen, and Karrot! The Attic contains a mixture of covers and originals from every band that has recorded on Deflection Point Records -- well, at least all the ones who had archival tapes left at the studio!

Q/A with Jason:
The other new CD (which is single) will accompany a Video that is to be released in April 2005. This is the Q/A with Jason.  There will be an open forum on the website from fans who wish to put logical questions about songs Jason helped write, or, wrote himself. These will then be read to him, and responded to during the taping.

Easter at All Saints:
Since Cincinnati got snowed out Christmas Eve services were cancelled.  Therefore, the taping of the performance has moved up to Easter, when it will proceed as planned.

This is all the news for now.
Stay Tuned to this site!

Relaunch of the official website! [26 Nov 2004|11:24pm]
Finally the site is back up and running again (albeit, at a new address, and hopefully, findable).

This is like cutting a ribbon at the opening of a building or some such.

I now declare this website...open.

Final Production Update & Release News (7.13.04) [01 Jul 2004|03:24pm]
It has been in production since February of 2004, it has 16 full-length tracks, all different styles of music, and is encased in a clear plastic box known as a jewel case, what is it?

Give Up?

Two - The brand new CD!
It was completed last night, and the final song was rush-mastered
(not at all difficult considering it was a 2-track song).

Here's the track listing for all you people:

Suppose this is a good time to denote the fact that:

Tracks 1, 3, 7, 14, and 15 are written by Jason Hicks and Tabetha Hicks

Tracks 5 & 12 are based upon the music from the song "Cold"
as written by Jason Hicks, Joe Nelson, and Justin Vallance.
New arrangement and lyrics by Jason Hicks.

All other tracks by Jason Hicks.

1. Gate
2. Playing The Game (A-Side First Single)
3. Stripe The Collar
4. Much Too Wrong (B-Side First Single)
5. Phantoms & Bullets
6. Garden Jam Instrumental
7. False
8. Welcome To Florida
9. Dry
10. Infinity
11. Follow
12. Phantoms & Bullets (Acoustic Edit)
13. Love Will Come Knocking
14. Someday Soon
15. You're So Funny
16. An End To Things

I suppose all will be wondering just when the CD is to be released.
Well, the website still has to be re-done, but since I have all of next week off
from work. I have no doubt that the CD will see the light of day on 13th of July.
Sooner for those of you who get free copies to listen to and review and what-not.

All the blab I've got for now.

11 down....6 to go [25 Jun 2004|11:28pm]
Just to let you all know, i've decided on 16 as the total amount of tracks to put on my new cd
that does have a cover, but it does not have a title.

As i've said previously, there were a few early contenders for the Single, but it is really too bad
that I keep making better tracks. I remade Love Will Come Knocking from a somewhat
barren half inspired Britpop track into an all-out Physcadelic Rock masterwork. Even with an
ending that sounds like it belongs in 1967.

But at this stage, it is difficult to say -- I may as of yet come up with something catchier then any
of the other contenders for single.

I will be releasing Phantoms and Bullets - the album version to the website within the next couple of weeks
the main reason being that I want to show you all what i've been working on.

Because of an unforseen delay, the website probably won't be going live until October, possibly.
There is a lot of work left to do on the CD, not to mention I don't want another
half-assed website.

All for now.

new graphic & pertinent news [02 Jun 2004|11:05pm]
there is a new graphic up on the temporary site page.
this is two in a series of rotating graphics that will be up on the website.
for those of you who are interested - that picture was taken by my wife, Tabetha
on the beachside in Clearwater, FL.

the four best pictures will appear on t-shirts most likely, and will be sold through the website in the months to come.

production is meeting target for the new cd.
with nine tracks in the bag, I could have a full length cd right now
but as it stands, I am holding off til I have at least 16 songs.

The first single is most likely going to be either
Phantoms & Bullets -or- Welcome To Florida
But then again, I have yet to determine if I will come up with anything else commercially viable.

Press just sent me a crappy bio of my life, and I rejected it. After all, If I can't write my own bio, i'm useless.

This is all for now.

An Update... [22 May 2004|07:11pm]
For those of you who are keen enough to notice --

The site has gone offline. It's not live at the moment.
It is being re-vamped, and being prepared for the release of the new CD
in late August.

That is all for now.

I am in the studio doing about two songs everyday
and getting the hang of digital mixing/recording.

"Who Has Won?" CD Release Info, Website Redesign, and much much more! [28 Feb 2004|12:33pm]

Who Has Won is scheduled for a tentative release date of sometime in late April. The CD does not include any other instruments other than Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Ukelele, Digeridoo, and some tribal drums. The CD is delayed for a number of reasons, first and foremost....my wedding day is March the Sixth. There will be photos for you all to see and links in the photo gallery section of the new website.

Speaking of New Websites... This one is going to go under the knife (so to speak) and emerge around May 1st with an all-new look.

That is all the news that is fit to print at the moment.

Godspeed Everyone!

Happy Crimble, Merry Christmas, And A Stunningly Stupendous New Year! [25 Dec 2003|11:53am]

Well, what have we here?

A Merry Christmas to one and all from me.

Isn't that stupendous? It Is? Wow. Didn't think that it was that amazing.

Anywhoo...

Here is what is on tap for 2004, in case thou wishes to knoweth....

I will be writing and rehearsing a full LP of solo stuff, which i've been hard at work on since October, and which will conclude whenever I finalize the demos, and buff them up in a proper studio.

Tabetha and I will be wed on March 6, 2004 here in Florida.

A 4-Song EP, titled Cease Fire will be released sometime in January. It is a maxi-single (or 2 singles released at once, if you aren't up on the verbiage). The title track of course is titled Cease Fire and it's B-Side will most likely be a song i've written called Pre-Tense.

Well, that is all for now.

Keep your eyes glued to the news section for more info as it becomes available.

December 03 [09 Dec 2003|06:31pm]
Hey!

Long time and no talk.

Reason?

Plain and Simple. Relaxation.
I am slowly beginning to write new material, and will probably hold off releasing anything until Summer of 2004.

These songs are going to be well-thought-out and constructed, as compared to the "Stream of consciousness" vibe that most of my records have had in the past.

I may or may not be releasing an EP (6 songs) later on in December, if that proves to be an "Affirmitive", the appropriate information will then be posted to this website.

Cheers!

No Update In Awhile [27 Aug 2003|05:25pm]
Big News...

A lot of stuff has been happening with me lately, moving and that type of thing.

So, the CD is being put on the DL for awhile, possibly until such a time as when I can get 14 well-constructed songs put together that I think have the possibility to carry the messages I want them to carry. As always stay tuned to the news section.

You'll hear it here first!

Long Time Since Last Update [10 Jul 2003|07:56pm]
Hey everyone...it's been a long time since i've updated. Right now it is the 10th of July, and the CD is still in post-production. It's actually being mixed down. It should be ready for approval upon my return to Cincinnati on the 21st. Then we're looking at a scant one and a half week to two weeks until it will be released. Then, of course we are also looking at a site re-design to co-incide with the album artwork. That's about it for now.

More updates later on, i'm sure.

Show Today! [07 Jun 2003|04:21am]
There is a show today - at a graduation party - that will be forever marked as my very first show.

To those of you who visit and are invited to the party, there will be 4-song sampler EP's available at the event. For those of you who really care what the title of the EP is...it is Coincidences Are Contrived EP -- wow! Catchy, huh?

Anyhow, pictures will be posted from the event, as well as a perhaps a live track or two in the weeks to come. The pics should be up around Sunday night (hopefully!).

and the days are spinning closer to the inevitable release of C.A.C. -- as always -- i'll keep you posted!

Site Update [02 Jun 2003|04:23am]
The website has just underwent a total strip-down. It's bare and essential right now, to go along with the new cd, which is for all intents a stripped-down performance.

There is also a new section - the gallery - which has some rare pictures of me, and also, a place to showcase the amazing artwork of my lovely fiancee, Tabetha.

Now that I have posted, I am going to thank you all and go to sleep.

Until Later

Some News. [26 May 2003|09:29pm]
To go with the cover art for the brand-new cd that will be coming out of exclusive cover material, before release of Coincidences Are Contrived, the site will be undergoing a restructuring of sorts. Two new interactive sections are to be added, and echozone, which previously was located at the address http://nmwe.cjb.net/ will have a new home on the Jason Hicks Official Website. This area will be Tabetha's corner. Devoted to artwork, and updated bi-weekly.

The new site will launch on Thursday Morning.

The Exclusive Cover CD covers! will be released before the start of July.
